1、 Uses and Types of Defoamers for Water Treatment
There are many kinds of water treatment defoamers, including alcohols, fatty acids, phosphates, ethers, silicone oils, etc. In industrial production, to achieve the requirements that the bubble film has excellent diffusion force and solubility, it should also be as small as possible, which can not be achieved simultaneously among defoamers with the same molecular structure. Therefore, two or more kinds of water treatment defoamers are often used together in practical operations.
2、 Action mechanism of water treatment defoamer
Bubbles in liquid can be divided into three forms: bubbles, foam and dispersed bubbles. The bubble generation is mainly affected by the foaming force of water and stability. In industrial water, bubbles are closely contacted but not fused. When chemicals are added, the stability of water is improved, and small bubbles quickly form larger bubbles. This bubble is irregular in shape, and in many cases, it will generate a foam layer due to aggregation.
The mechanism of water treatment defoamer is that after the defoamer is dropped into the foam layer, the droplets will permeate and diffuse into the bubbles. When the surface tension of the antifoam is lower than the liquid surface tension of the bubble membrane and the mixed surface tension of bubbles and antifoam, the antifoam molecules can well penetrate into the bubble membrane. The bubble breaking effect is due to the reduction of the local surface tension of the bubble membrane due to the influence of the antifoam, and the difference between the surface tensions makes the bubble membranes pull and stretch each other, eventually leading to the rupture.
