1. Add before foaming
This method can inhibit the production of foam by adding defoamer to the system that may produce foam in advance. For closed containers and devices, defoamers can effectively eliminate foam.
2. Continuous drip addition
When the foaming liquid is circulating or flowing, the circulating flow of the foaming liquid will consume the defoamer. In this case, the defoamer antifoam can effectively eliminate foam by continuously dropping the defoamer. If the metering pump is supplemented, the dosage can be effectively controlled to achieve the purpose of the most economical use of defoamer.
Knowing when to add defoamer, what should be noted before adding them?
Precautions before adding defoamer
First, the lotion needs to be fully stirred before use. Because uneven lotion is easy to cause stratification, which affects the use effect of defoamer.
Secondly, try to use thickeners for thinning. When using organosilicon defoamers, they can be diluted, but at the same time, the stability of the defoamer will also decrease sharply. If stratification occurs, it is recommended to use thickeners as much as possible for dilution. If using water for dilution, please add water to the defoamer and stir slowly. Use up on the same day when diluting.
Thirdly, prevent frost. Organosilicon defoamers are sensitive to frost and high temperatures and are susceptible to damage. If the defoamer has already frozen, it must be carefully defrosted and tested before use.
Fourthly, pay attention to the storage of silicone defoamer. Long term strong oscillation or strong shear (such as using mechanical pumps, homogenizers, etc.) or stirring can damage the stability of defoamers, so pay attention to the storage of silicone defoamer.
